Valentine’s Day is coming

Hey there,

in English please…

Hey there,

just take a look at your calendar! Valentine’s day is up on us, like every year.
What do you think about Valentine’s day?
Do you think, it is totally romantic, when your bf is walking through the door on february 14th, with a bunch of roses and chocolates in his hands? Or are you even planning on a trip to London?
Maybe there are even a few among you, who are saying: “Valentine’s day? What a serious crap, invented by the industry!” And some of us are single and feel rather sad about all the Valentine’s hype. Who wouldn’t understand that.

I have to admit, I am in between all these opinions. In general, I am someone who is not afraid to show her affection towards other people. I don’t need a special date once a year, to say “I love you so much” or handing over a present to someone I care about. The really adorable things are the small ones, aren’t they? I really enjoy crafting gifts myself, as I am pretty much the “DIY queen” in my social environment over here ;) I guess, there’s nobody, who wouldn’t be delighted to receive a small bottle, filled with love (look at the picture on top of the post!).

On the one hand, I really don’t like the whole hype about Valentine’s day, but on the other hand, it’s like “awwwww”, when my bf comes up with one classy rose for Valentine’s day. Seriously, which girl doesn’t like that, no matter which day it is :)
But I have been single for quite a while and I know, that many take it not lightly, to spend this “special” day alone. Luckily I’ve never seen it that way, maybe because me and my friends don’t give a lot about “the day of love”. I am really grateful for that.

I’ve had a weak moment, though, and I’ve surfed the internet for last minute travels on V-Day. I’ve been pretty sure, that there won’t be ANY flight or hotelroom available, when you start looking now, but I was wrong. Indeed you could get both, for example for a trip to London. I was tempted, I really was, but I closed the browser window, without booking anything. We want to travel to Ireland in the late summer this year and although we’d love to visit London, it just hasn’t to be on Valentine’s day. I’m sure, there will be many great opportunities to get there, not only this weekend.

I think, you don’t have to exaggerate. Of course, it is totally your choice, if you want to decorate your whole flat with rose petals, candles and chocolates on V-Day. And if you want to travel to Paris at this very time of the year: don’t let anything hold you back! :)
But I guess, a romantic gesture counts as much on any other day of the year, as it would on february 14th. We should show the people we love, that we do. We should tell them every single day. Sometimes life can be so very short and we don’t even realize, how much time we waste with stupid things.
Sweethearts: Tell your loved ones, how you feel about them and enjoy every single moment with them, being part of your life :)
