My blog is my home with my rules

Hey there,

during the last weeks, you’ve heard nearly nothing of me on my blog. I am really sorry, but time seems to be slipping through my fingers and I have to admit, that I often lack the inspiration to blog.
There are ideas for blogging here and there, for example, when I’ve finished another book or saw a movie, that annoyed/touched me. Sometimes I could just write about buying new beauty stuff, which makes me happy.
But when I think about blogging these things, my head will soon enough tell me: “You can’t blog this. The article will be too short. This doesn’t fit in here, you have a DIY blog.”
My posting about Star Wars was an exception. I just started to write, because I felt the need, that I simply have to. I owed these cool movies to write about them.
That was the moment, when I realized, this is what I love. Writing about things I love.

It’s not, that I had no fun while blogging at all, I am still hopelessly in love with all kinds of DIY projects. That’s one thing, that hasn’t changed in the past months, but why do I resent blogging anyway?
It took me a while to find the answer to that question, but now it is totally obvious: I give myself too much pressure.
I am that kind of person, who always wants to make a perfect job. Funny that this positive nature of mine would restrain my writing. I want it to be too professional, to perfect. But what’s the use in blogging, when I lose the fun along the way? I don’t want, everytime I have an idea, to think about how this fits in here. This should be my blog, my virtual home and my rules.

I’ve decided, that I will write any article that pops into my mind, when it does. Above all, I am going to write about the topics, that I care about. Without thinking “What could happen to the search engine stuff with these posts?” or if that post will make every reader happy (to be honest, it’s impossible to make everybody happy all the time).
If my thoughts don’t fit in here – at my own blog – where should they?

Versprochen.

There are two changes, that I want to make with this blog, because I need to save time and nerves. You wouldn’t believe it, but my job, my Foodblog and my real life sometimes need attention, too:
1. I quit blogging in two languages. My future posts will be in english, except when I am writing about products or something else, that is only available in Germany. Concerning these articles, I will go on in german and english.
2. I write, when I have the time. This is some kind of virtual playground and I don’t want to worry about a blogpost every second day. That would be pressure again and I don’t do pressure anymore. I really hope, that you are not angry with me, when you’re bloglovin or RSS only tells you once or twice a month, that I’ve blogged. I will try to make your reading time “quality time”. Pinky Promise.

3 Gedanken zu „My blog is my home with my rules
